Get Hooked on Tinder

Launched in 2012, Tinder is one of the most popular dating apps in the USA – and boasts more than 50 million users worldwide. In fact, it is the go-to app for singles on the lookout to meet people with similar interests in their neighborhood.

Read on to find out how the app works.

Tinder – an overview
Tinder is a location-based app that aims to match singles in the same vicinity. Although, there is no age-restriction on usage of the app, it is quiet popular with people in their 20s, who log on to find others for one-night stands, casual dates, friendships, and even long-term relationships.
The app is easy to use and makes use of the ‘swiping’ feature on smartphones to match with others. Simply ‘swipe’ to the right if you are interested in a specific profile or to the left if, you are not!

How to get started on Tinder?
The Tinder app is free to use and supports Android, iOS, and Web devices. You can also choose to unlock some advanced features by opting to pay for premium membership.
To sign up for Tinder, you can only login using Facebook. But don’t worry, the app does not post any content on your social media timeline and simply uses your personal information and photos to make the matching process easy and more in real-time. You can also choose to edit the information accordingly and even add a small bio to describe yourself.
Once the profile is completed, you can start swiping to find the perfect match.

The matchmaking process
As we mentioned above, you can match with others who share the same interest as you by swiping to the right on your screen. However, you can only start a conversation with them if they also swipe right on your profile.

On Tinder, you can also:

  • Super Like: If a specific profile really stands out for you, you can tap on the blue star icon on the top to notify them of your attraction. But note that a free account gets only one ‘super like’ per day.
  • Unmatch: If a conversation is not working out as you expected, either of you can choose to unmatch each other and end the connection.
  • Matching radius: Tinder matches you with appropriate profiles according to your neighborhood. However, you can customize the distance from as less as 2 km to a maximum 160 km.
  • Search settings: You can choose to search for prospective matches based on gender, age limit, and even interests.

Ready, Set, Match
Now that you know what Tinder is all about, let’s get started with the app and meet your next date!
